Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room

January 4, 2026

Colossians 1:15-17

15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the one who is first over all creation, 16 because all things were created by him: both in the heavens and on the earth, the things that are visible and the things that are invisible. Whether they are thrones or powers, or rulers or authorities, all things were created through him and for him. 17 He existed before all things, and all things are held together in him.

Good Morning! Blessed be the name of the Lord!

As I sit and quietly watch the approaching sunrise, I am taking time to breathe in God’s glory. These moments, ushering in a new day, are precious to me as I watch the sky change colors. With each breath, I sense God as I allow myself to be enveloped in the myriad of colors. As the sky brightens, I feel my soul light up in anticipation of the possibilities of a new day.

In our busy lives, it is necessary to choose time to spend with God. For me, sharing liminal space with God is how I start my day. There is no right time or way to commune with God, but I offer that it should be a purposeful, uninterrupted time. Take time to carve out your special time. I promise that you will be blessed.

Redeeming Lord, you bless us abundantly! Thank you for each new day. May we take advantage of the opportunities that appear before us. Thank you. We love you. In Christ’s name we pray, Amen.

Thought for the day: God sees, knows, and cares for each of us.

Spend time with God every day! Pastor Liz
