Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room
January 11, 2026
Ephesians 3:14-19
14 This is why I kneel before the Father. 15 Every ethnic group in heaven or on earth is recognized by him. 16 I ask that he will strengthen you in your inner selves from the riches of his glory through the Spirit. 17 I ask that Christ will live in your hearts through faith. As a result of having strong roots in love, 18 I ask that you’ll have the power to grasp love’s width and length, height and depth, together with all believers. 19 I ask that you’ll know the love of Christ that is beyond knowledge so that you will be filled entirely with the fullness of God.
Good Morning! Every knee shall bow, every heart confess, that Jesus Christ is Lord.
I’m watching a deep bank of clouds move ever so slowly across the sky. I see no sign of the sun yet, but I know that its time is coming. As I continue to stare into the last of the early morning sky, I place my hope in the arrival of a new day brimming with possibilities.
It is in this space that I share my prayers for others with God. So many of those I lift up are awaiting a new day. A day without the worry or pain of yesterday. Just like my cloud bank, their challenges seem to slowly move away. Sometimes, it seems they are stuck in the midst of the hard times or they are moving agonizingly slow, but we pray so they can keep focused on the hope of a new tomorrow. A day with no more pain or despair.
On our darkest day, when words fail us, the Holy Spirit lifts our needs to God. We pray on behalf of others like the Holy Spirit prays on our behalf. Just when our hope starts to falter, we get a glimpse of the sun and the start of a glorious new day. Our souls are revived so that we may begin again.
Redeeming Lord, you bless us abundantly! Help us remember to share our lives with you. Thank you for your patience when we forget. Thank you. We love you. In Christ’s name we pray, Amen.
Thought for the day: Through our small acts, God will do more than we can imagine.
Talk to God every day! Pastor Liz
