Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room

February 1, 2026

Psalm 96:1-6

1 Sing to the LORD a new song! Sing to the LORD, all the earth! 2 Sing to the LORD! Bless his name! Share the news of his saving work every single day! 3 Declare God’s glory among the nations; declare his wondrous works among all people 4 because the LORD is great and so worthy of praise. He is awesome beyond all other gods 5 because all the gods of the nations are just idols, but it is the LORD who created heaven! 6 Greatness and grandeur are in front of him; strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.

Good Morning! Sing to the Lord a new song!

Most people love to share good news: a new baby, an engagement, a new job, . . . It’s fun to brighten someone’s day with exciting news. Even if you are trying to keep the good news a secret for a special unveiling, it just sits there bubbling on the surface, and sometimes it slips out before the appointed time.

The funny thing is that we don’t have the same enthusiasm for sharing the Good News that Christ died for our sins, that God loves us, and that God is always with us . . . How come this amazing news isn’t oozing out of us every moment of the day? As wonderful as our individual examples of good news are, they pale in comparison to the Good News of the Gospel.

Sing to the Lord, all the Earth. Let’s shout it from the mountain top that Jesus Christ is Lord!

Redeeming Lord, you bless us abundantly! Thank you for loving us so much that you sent Jesus to save us. Thank you. We love you. In Christ’s name we pray, Amen.

Thought for the day: Each new day is an opportunity to spread the Good News.

Share the Good News with others! Pastor Liz
