Liz’s Morning Devotional based upon Upper Room
February 14, 2022
Read 1 John 4:16-19
16 We have known and have believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and those who remain in love remain in God and God remains in them. 17 This is how love has been perfected in us so that we can have confidence on the Judgment Day, because we are exactly the same as God is in this world. 18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear because fear expects punishment. The person who is afraid has not been made perfect in love. 19 We love because God first loved us.
Good Morning! We love because God first loved us.
As I awaken on this Valentine’s Day, I am thinking about love. God is Love and Love comes from God. In 1 Corinthians 16:14, we read Let everything you do be done in love [motivated and inspired by God’s love for us]. When our lives are rooted in God’s love, we joyfully serve others as we are motivated by the love shown to us. Love is Surrender to our Lord.
Many of us take part in the celebration of giving Valentine’s Day cards to those we love. These cards represent our caring for one another. How do we let God know of our love? First, we can take time to say I love you, God. This declaration shouldn’t be only on a special day, but every day. Secondly, we show our thankfulness for God’s love by sharing this love with others. When we care for one another, when we serve the needs of others, when we share God’s love with others, we are showering God with valentines.
Accept God’s love and be joyful on this special day celebrating love.
Loving God, Thank You for loving us. We love you Lord and we thank you for your unconditional love. Help us share this love with the world. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: I will be intentional about showing my love for God today.
Smile! God loves you! Pastor Liz
