Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room

Psalm 104:10-13
10 You put gushing springs into dry riverbeds. They flow between the mountains, 11 providing water for every wild animal the wild donkeys quench their thirst. 12 Overhead, the birds in the sky make their home, chirping loudly in the trees. 13 From your lofty house, you water the mountains. The earth is filled full by the fruit of what you’ve done.
Good Morning. Our God is an awesome God!
This morning's sunrise was a beautiful sight. The oranges and reds shining through the trees in the distance took my breath away. God blesses us by surrounding us with a landscape of uncountable glory. No matter which way we turn, we see God’s handiwork.
When the media bombards us with news of hate and violence, it is easy to lose sight of God’s everlasting goodness. I remember when my children were young; I would send them outside for fresh air when they began to pick and fuss with one another.
As adults, we, too, need a reminder to leave our manmade spaces filled with filtered air and artificial light to breathe in God’s glory found in nature. The moment that we enter the divine space God created for us, our tension and troubles slip away.
Give yourself permission to go outside and breathe in the breath of life.
Loving Lord, Maker of all things! You love us! Help us to remember to breathe when we are overwhelmed with our lives. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
