Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room
February 25, 2026
1 Corinthians 12:26-27
If one part suffers, every part suffers with it;
if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.
Now you are the body of Christ,
and each one of you is a part of it.
Good Morning! Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God!
This morning I am preparing to participate in a Public Witness for Immigrant Justice in Washington, D.C. We will join together in ecumenical worship, followed by a prayerful march and gathering as we join in public witness on the U.S. Capitol grounds. The afternoon will provide us with the opportunity to join in prayerful conversation with our elected officials.
I am processing a variety of emotions. Part of me feels like Daniel entering the Lion’s Den, but like Daniel, I know that God will be at my side. The biggest part of me feels blessed to have the opportunity to act upon my calling to support the outcasts, lost, and the least of God’s children.
Being called to take action means moving beyond passive faith or intention into tangible service, obedience, and daily, intentional deeds. It requires overcoming hesitation, stepping out of comfort zones to address needs, and embodying love and truth rather than just speaking them.
Like Peter walking on water, action requires stepping out of the boat despite the potential dangers or doubts. We are called to live out our belief by obeying divine guidance to serve, share, and change unjust situations. It is time to stop waiting and start doing the “next right thing.”
God of Wisdom, you bless us abundantly! I ask for your presence with our group and me on this day of doing the next right thing. Thank you. We love you. In Christ’s name we pray, Amen.
Thought for the day: Each of us has a role to play as part of the body of Christ.
Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy. [Proverbs 31:8-9]
