Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room
February 27, 2026
Psalm 100:1-5
1 Shout triumphantly to the LORD, all the earth! 2 Serve the LORD with celebration! Come before him with shouts of joy! 3 Know that the LORD is God he made us; we belong to him. We are his people, the sheep of his own pasture. 4 Enter his gates with thanks; enter his courtyards with praise! Thank him! Bless his name! 5 Because the LORD is good, his loyal love lasts forever; his faithfulness lasts generation after generation.
Good Morning! Rejoice! We belong to God!
Not one of us is worthy to enter the courtyards with praise! Only by God’s grace do we receive the invitation to Come! God, our creator, blesses us abundantly. In response to God’s grace, we are called to go and find the lost and lonely. The celebration is incomplete until all have been found.
When God sent his son to save us, our lives changed forever. God did not promise a quick or easy fix, nor did God promise a life without hardships. God made us and gifted us with brains that allow us to think and the free will to make decisions. No decision comes without consequences: good and bad.
The sum of everyone’s free will often results in chaos. The glue that holds everything together is God’s love. God’s love holds properties that no earthly company could create. It can be stretched to its limits and always bounces back into place. It can be cut into pieces and, by God’s grace, reattached as one. It can be dissolved like sugar in a cup of water, yet regranulate when we ask for forgiveness and humble ourselves before God.
Praise God! There is nothing we can do to earn God’s grace and love. Nevertheless, God gives it to us freely, with no strings attached. Even when we mess up so badly that we no longer recognize ourselves, God sees into our souls and finds his creation intact and ready to start again. Hallelujah! What a Savior!
God of Wisdom, you bless us abundantly! We make such messes. Thank you for providing a clean-up crew and a new set of blocks upon which to build our lives. Thank you. We love you. In Christ’s name we pray, Amen.
Thought for the day: Even in times of challenge, we have much for which to thank God!
God loves us unconditionally! Share God’s love with everyone! Pastor Liz
