Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room

March 10, 2026

1 John 4:7-12

7 Dear friends, let’s love each other, because love is from God, and everyone who loves is born from God and knows God. 8 The person who doesn’t love does not know God, because God is love. 9 This is how the love of God is revealed to us: God has sent his only Son into the world so that we can live through him. 10 This is love: it is not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son as the sacrifice that deals with our sins. 11 Dear friends, if God loved us this way, we also ought to love each other. 12 No one has ever seen God. If we love each other, God remains in us and his love is made perfect in us.

Good Morning, let’s love each other!

Beloved, let us love one another because love is from God. Love is a gift from God. God, our creator, made us and loves us. In return, we are commanded to love one another.

Nothing can separate us from God’s love. God's love is an all-powerful, sacrificial, and unwavering force that cannot be separated from believers, offering healing and security. It transcends human understanding, acting as a transformative and active force that casts out fear, provides purpose, and ensures that nothing—neither life nor death—can break the bond between God and humanity.

God’s love is the only thing that can overcome the evil of this world. Satan knows this and works to distract us from remembering this truth. If everyone stopped whatever they were doing and embraced God’s love, the world would be transformed.

We get into this “you first” mentality when it comes to letting go of hatred and forgiving one another. Maybe we’re so afraid to trust the intentions of one another that we won’t risk being seen as weak.

Jesus calls us to humble ourselves before God and repent of our sins. It’s not a trick. For whosoever earnestly proclaims Christ as Lord and Savior will be forgiven and welcomed into the family of God and receive eternal life.

God of Wisdom, you bless us abundantly! Open our eyes that we may see the world through your eyes of love. We love you. In Christ’s name we pray, Amen.

Thought for the day: Welcome and love others as God welcomes you.

God loves us! Pastor Liz
