Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room
March 11, 2024
Matthew 7:24-29
24 “Everybody who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise builder who built a house on bedrock. 25 The rain fell, the floods came, and the wind blew and beat against that house. It didn’t fall because it was firmly set on bedrock. 26 But everybody who hears these words of mine and doesn’t put them into practice will be like a fool who built a house on sand. 27 The rain fell, the floods came, and the wind blew and beat against that house. It fell and was completely destroyed.” 28 When Jesus finished these words, the crowds were amazed at his teaching 29 because he was teaching them like someone with authority and not like their legal experts.
Good Morning! Stand on the promises of God!
Being a Christian means taking action. We must engage with the Word, join in fellowship with the body of believers, and develop a personal relationship with God. Otherwise, we are like a house built on a foundation of sand.
Being a Christian is more than showing up for church. It is good to come to church, but it takes more than that. Many come and sit and wait for God to arrive. We must humble ourselves and invite God to enter as we actively participate in worship.
We carefully secure our foundation, brick by brick, so that when the inevitable storms arrive, we can stand strongly on what we have built through our life of faith.
Gracious God, Thank you for this beautiful gift of life. You are our sure foundation. Help us work to nurture our relationship together. We thank you! In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: When the storms of life are raging, Jesus stands with us.
Christ is the Sure Foundation! Pastor Liz
