Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room

March 18, 2026

Galatians 5:22-26

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against things like this. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the self with its passions and its desires. 25 If we live by the Spirit, let’s follow the Spirit. 26 Let’s not become arrogant, make each other angry, or be jealous of each other.

Good Morning, let’s follow the Spirit!

We are called to be the sign that God is at work in the world, the evidence that redemption is possible. We are called to be life-givers in the best sense of the word.

Imagine a world where God’s love is shared freely. It seems impossible, but all things are possible with God. It takes individuals, like you and me, to begin a movement.

When Christ began his ministry, he called a few to follow. The disciples left behind their past lives and walked with Jesus. Jesus preached and taught love, and people began to listen. Think about the Sermon on the Mount, where thousands gathered to hear the Good News.

Living with Christ, the Way, began 2000 years ago. There have been times of great growth, as well as stagnant times. Each time of growth was initiated by a group of believers who stoked the fires of the Holy Spirit.

The time is now! If each of us shares love with one person who passes it on to another, then the movement will reignite.

God of Wisdom, you bless us abundantly! Help us to truly believe that we have the power and love within us to change the world. We love you. In Christ’s name we pray, Amen.

Thought for the day: Be the sign that God is at work in the world.
