Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room
March 23, 2026
Isaiah 40:27-31
27 Why do you say, Jacob, and declare, Israel, “My way is hidden from the LORD, my God ignores my predicament”? 28 Don’t you know? Haven’t you heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the creator of the ends of the earth. He doesn’t grow tired or weary. His understanding is beyond human reach, 29 giving power to the tired and reviving the exhausted. 30 Youths will become tired and weary, young men will certainly stumble; 31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength; they will fly up on wings like eagles; they will run and not be tired; they will walk and not be weary.
Good Morning, the Lord is the everlasting God.
During our earthly walk, we become weary. Living every day to the fullest is exhausting. Pain and suffering are exhausting. Following as Christ leads us forward is equally exhausting. In those moments when we feel unable to lift even a finger, God, as always, is present.
By God’s grace, we receive power and energy through the Holy Spirit. One essential purpose of worship, prayer, and communing with God is to receive renewal as we lean into the hope in the Lord.
Through Christ, we are revived so that we might carry on the great commission to seek the lost and lonely. Sometimes we mistakenly close ourselves off when weariness grows too great, but in those moments, God gives us the opportunity to embrace and draw on the reserve of power fueled by the community of believers.
Come and receive the full measure of energy contained in living in the hope of Christ.
God of Wisdom, you bless us abundantly! Life is hard. We become weary. Thank you for being our never-ending source of energy and love. We love you. In Christ’s name we pray, Amen.
Thought for the day: When we lack strength, trust in God’s grace.
Refuel and Renew through Christ! Pastor Liz
