Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room
March 28, 2025
1 John 2:15-17
15 Don’t love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in them. 16 Everything that is in the world—the craving for whatever the body feels, the craving for whatever the eyes see and the arrogant pride in one’s possessions—is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And the world and its cravings are passing away, but the person who does the will of God remains forever.
Good Morning. Rejoice in a new day brimming with possibility!
I can’t remember a time when I didn’t enjoy shopping. By shopping, I don’t mean the everyday grocery shopping or even the shopping with an intended purchase to make. I love shopping when I am in search of nothing in particular. For example, I can go to craft fairs and eclectic shops, where I can engage all my senses in searching for a treasure. Some days, a treasure reveals itself, but other days, nothing tickles my fancy.
Perhaps the most engaging aspect of this kind of shopping is the human interaction with the vendors. They always have stories to share. By sharing and learning each other's stories, we discover true treasures. There may not be a tangible exchange of goods and services, but there is a connection with a stranger or a neighbor through an unexpected bond.
We meander through life as we traverse our faith journey. In the end, it is not those earthly treasures that matter. It is the relationships that we build along the way. When we listen and see with our hearts and souls, we recognize the long-lost brothers and sisters with whom we share life in the community of faith.
God calls us to go and gather in all God’s children so that all will find the way home.
Loving Lord, Maker of all things! You made a beautiful world for us to inhabit that is filled with our brothers and sisters. Help us nurture these relationships as they are revealed to us. Thank you. We love you, Lord! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: Search for the lost and be blessed!
Let your heart and soul lead you on your journey! Pastor Liz
