Morning Devotional 040722 Have You Not Heard?

Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room

April 7, 2022

Read Isaiah 40:27-31

27 Why do you say, Jacob, and declare, Israel, “My way is hidden from the LORD, my God ignores my predicament”? 28 Don’t you know? Haven’t you heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the creator of the ends of the earth. He doesn’t grow tired or weary. His understanding is beyond human reach, 29 giving power to the tired and reviving the exhausted. 30 Youths will become tired and weary, young men will certainly stumble; 31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength; they will fly up on wings like eagles; they will run and not be tired; they will walk and not be weary.

Good Morning, Soar upon the wings of eagles!

Our God is an awesome God, and God’s majesty surrounds us. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to visit Grandfather’s Mountain where I hiked to the swinging mile-high bridge and ventured out on a section of rocks where I could see God’s creation in all its splendor. As I stood and looked around me, I felt the air blowing upon my face. I thanked God for loving me, blessing me, and keeping me safe as I carefully inched up the mountain.

I’ve always believed that I am closest to God when I visit the ocean and the mountains because I can immerse myself in the quietness of the moment. As I look at each wave or each mountain peak, I sense the magnitude of our Creator who fashioned everything with intricate, unique characteristics. God is perfection! From the smallest creatures and plants to the highest mountains, God created everything.

We, God’s children, are his masterpieces. When God breathed life into us, he gave us dominion over all that he had created. Our abilities to handle this seem to ebb and flow as time continues, yet God continues to give us the tools that we need to transform our messes into works of beauty. As I sit and watch the breeze blowing through the bushes, I sense the Holy Spirit moving through and around me in the stillness of this moment. Be Still and Know that I Am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10

Loving and Gracious God, Thank You for loving us. We are so blessed. Thank You! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen

Thought for the day: Where do I find strength for my journey?
