Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room

  April 20, 2025

Genesis 1:1-5

1 When God began to create the heavens and the earth 2 the earth was without shape or form, it was dark over the deep sea, and God’s wind swept over the waters 3 God said, “Let there be light.” And so light appeared. 4 God saw how good the light was. God separated the light from the darkness. 5 God named the light Day and the darkness Night. There was evening and there was morning: the first day.

Good Morning. Hallelujah! Christ is Risen!

On this early Easter morn, we stumble toward Jesus’ tomb looking for answers. What went wrong? How did this happen?

When we arrive, the stone has been rolled away. It takes time for our foggy brains to make sense of what we see.

Slowly, the realization starts to shake loose the cobwebs, and God’s light begins to fill the space of the empty tomb. Suddenly, the prophecies begin to form in our minds as the truth of the empty tomb is revealed.

“O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:55-58

God creates each new day! It is time to rejoice and celebrate our risen Lord.

Loving Lord, Maker of all things! We would be lost without You. Thank you. We love you, Lord! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen

Thought for the day: Each dawn, God shares love and presence with his worldwide family.

Rejoice! Christ lives! Pastor Liz
