Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room

Philippians 4:10-13
10 I was very glad in the Lord because now at last you have shown concern for me again. (Of course you were always concerned but had no way to show it.) 11 I’m not saying this because I need anything, for I have learned how to be content in any circumstance. 12 I know the experience of being in need and of having more than enough; I have learned the secret to being content in any and every circumstance, whether full or hungry or whether having plenty or being poor. 13 I can endure all these things through the power of the one who gives me strength.
Good Morning; The joy of the Lord is my strength.
I can endure all these things through the power of the one who gives me strength! God blesses us with free will! With this blessing, some would say, comes a curse as well. Having free will means that we can make choices. “Yay! I get to decide for myself,” might be the cry of a teenager or young adult.
At some point, when we’ve made many poor choices, we long for the day when someone else will make the hard choices for us. Of course, we still want to control or manipulate those choices involving things we really want, like choosing the foods we shouldn’t eat.
Along our journey, we make good choices and poor choices, but the most challenging times come from the poor choices of others, like an accident or things over which no one would choose, like an illness. Vs. 13 in today’s passage helps me daily, but especially in times of need; I can endure all these things through the power of the one who gives me strength! By the grace of God, everything will be okay when we have a relationship with God through prayer, meditation, and reading the Word.
Our worst challenges or devastation are so little in comparison to the glory we attain through Christ. Christ endured the pain, suffering, and humiliation of the cross for our sins. I know that Christ is with me in all things. Hallelujah, Amen!
Loving God, We thank you for Your blessings. You allow us to choose our path and welcome us back when we go astray. Thank You! In the name of Christ, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: Prayer connects me to God’s guiding presence.
Praise God! Pray! Give Thanks! Pastor Liz
