Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room
June 10, 2025
Psalm 139:13-18
13 You are the one who created my innermost parts; you knit me together while I was still in my mother’s womb. 14 I give thanks to you that I was marvelously set apart. Your works are wonderful—I know that very well. 15 My bones weren’t hidden from you when I was being put together in a secret place, when I was being woven together in the deep parts of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my embryo, and on your scroll every day was written that was being formed for me, before any one of them had yet happened. 17 God, your plans are incomprehensible to me! Their total number is countless! 18 If I tried to count them—they outnumber grains of sand! If I came to the very end—I’d still be with you
Good Morning! Our Lord sets us apart!
God’s grace is amazing! As each of us was being formed, God was watching and preparing a plan for our lives. This idea is unfathomable if it happened to one or even ten of us, but God is at work within the infinite number of children being formed each day.
Equally amazing is God’s ability to see past our shortcomings and the mess we create and find the beauty he planted within us so very long ago. This beauty does not fade over time or rust from lack of use. The beauty within us shines brightly, patiently waiting for us to unleash its full glory. Amazing!
Yesterday, at Vacation Bible School, we sang the song God’s Still Working on Me. God works on us as we are being formed, and this work continues throughout our lives until we breathe in our final breath. Amazing!
Consider the projects we initiate and then leave unfinished, gathering dust in a box somewhere, forgotten and incomplete. God never gives up on us! From our beginning to our completion, God is with us as the Holy Spirit, molding, rearranging, smoothing, and transforming us into God’s image. Amazing!
Giving Lord, you bless us abundantly! We are challenged to seek the good within ourselves and others, especially those who are different from us. Help us see your image in all we meet. Thank you. We love you, Lord! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: Honor the image of God in each person!
Look for God’s beauty in all! Pastor Liz
