Micah 6:6-8
6 With what should I approach the LORD and bow down before God on high? Should I come before him with entirely burned offerings, with year-old calves? 7 Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, with many torrents of oil? Should I give my oldest child for my crime; the fruit of my body for the sin of my spirit? 8 He has told you, human one, what is good and what the LORD requires from you: to do justice, embrace faithful love, and walk humbly with your God.
Good Morning, Lift your voice in praise of the Lord!
This is a fitting verse to study as the Virginia Annual Conference begins our gathering of clergy and laity from across the state today. 8 He has told you, human one, what is good and what the LORD requires from you: to do justice, embrace faithful love, and walk humbly with your God.
I went to my first clergy session yesterday and felt a calming, loving presence as I sat among my colleagues. As new candidates were lifted up, they were embraced and supported. There was a time of healing when prayers were shared for those whose earthly ministry had ended. At the session's close, some long-standing challenges were resolved, and new challenges were placed before us.
As the clergy and laity gather to praise God, worship, pray, and conduct the business of the church, may all be led by the words in Micah. It is a new day dawning, and the day is filled with opportunities for change and growth as we enable our body of believers to go out and make disciples to transform the world. Let all put to rest the divisions of the past and focus on renewal and rebirth in Christ.
I dream of a time when all who call on the Holy Name of God are united in the cause of saving souls and serving one another in love. May today be the first of many.
Verse 1 The sun comes up; it’s a new day dawning; It’s time to sing Your song again. Whatever may pass and whatever lies before me, Let me be singing when the evening comes.
Chorus Bless the Lord, O my soul, O my soul, worship His holy Name. Sing like never before, O my soul. I’ll worship Your holy Name.
Amazing God, We thank you for Your blessings. We place barriers between ourselves and those we see as different. Help us remove these and look at our similarities so that we might find common ground upon which to stand. We Thank You! In the name of Christ, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: Share God’s love with someone today!
Embrace the new day! Pastor Liz
