Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room

Read 2 Corinthians 1: 3-7
3 May the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ be blessed! He is the compassionate Father and God of all comfort. 4 He’s the one who comforts us in all our trouble so that we can comfort other people who are in every kind of trouble. We offer the same comfort that we ourselves received from God. 5 That is because we receive so much comfort through Christ in the same way that we share so many of Christ’s sufferings. 6 So if we have trouble, it is to bring you comfort and salvation. If we are comforted, it is to bring you comfort from the experience of endurance while you go through the same sufferings that we also suffer. 7 Our hope for you is certain, because we know that as you are partners in suffering, so also you are partners in comfort.
Good morning! Bring the comfort we find in Christ to those who are suffering!
I was blessed to listen to the bishop of the Virginia Conference deliver the opening sermon for the 2022 Annual Conference. Bishop Lewis charged us with the task of doing whatever is necessary to serve all God’s children. She is a passionate advocate for “walking the walk of Christ” where all are cared for regardless of our differences.
How can we serve others with joy in our hearts? With everything, we must be willing to actively seek those in need. Next, we must discern the need and consider what gifts we have to bring to the table. We must never lose sight of God’s guidance shared through the Holy Spirit working within us. “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” John 14:26
When we see a need,we are called to take action. When we take that first step of faith, we will be filled with the power of God. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13
Do all that is necessary to serve God’s children!
Loving and Gracious God, Thank You for loving us. help us reignite the fire of the Holy Spirit working within us. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
