Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room
June 19, 2024
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
9 Two are better than one because they have a good return for their hard work. 10 If either should fall, one can pick up the other. But how miserable are those who fall and don’t have a companion to help them up! 11 Also, if two lie down together, they can stay warm. But how can anyone stay warm alone? 12 Also, one can be overpowered, but two together can put up resistance. A three-ply cord doesn’t easily snap.
Good Morning! Great is the Lord!
As I prepare to attend the Annual Conference, I am filled with the joy of anticipation. The clergy and laity, united in purpose, are gathering to make decisions and plan for the future of our church. In our connectional church, we draw strength from our unity. Together, we work to resist and overcome the evils at work in our world, knowing that our collective power is greater than any individual effort.
There is power in our connections, and joining together is a wonderful time to renew and visit with old friends, make new friends, and praise God together. I ask for prayers that all will be safe as they journey this week. I also ask for prayers to keep God at the center of all we do. With God as our foundation, we cannot fail.
Creator God, Thank you for this beautiful gift of life. Help all who are called in your name; focus on what is pure, holy, good, and beautiful. We thank you! In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: Remember to include Jesus in all our choices.
Where two or more are gathered in Christ’s name, he is there! Pastor Liz
