Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room
June 22, 2024
Zephaniah 3:14-17
14 Rejoice, Daughter Zion! Shout, Israel! Rejoice and exult with all your heart, Daughter Jerusalem. 15 The LORD has removed your judgment; he has turned away your enemy. The LORD, the king of Israel, is in your midst; you will no longer fear evil. 16 On that day, it will be said to Jerusalem: Don’t fear, Zion. Don’t let your hands fall. 17 The LORD your God is in your midst—a warrior bringing victory. He will create calm with his love; he will rejoice over you with singing.
Good Morning! Rejoice, The Lord is with us!
It has been a while since I turned to Zephaniah. This passage always evokes powerful memories of the powerful soprano solo from The Messiah, Rejoice Greatly. I am smiling as I consider the joy that is consuming me as the melody fills my soul. I was blessed to accompany a beautiful young voice major for her Senior recital at VSU. Her entire body radiated the joy that comes from a relationship with her Lord and Savior.
In times of despair and fear, we are blessed to have passages of hope and peace to quash our worries. God will create calm with his love; he will rejoice over you with singing.
Today is the closing of the 2024 Annual Conference, and I leave feeling renewed and refreshed to make disciples as I share God’s love. We are called to let go of our fears and listen to God’s call in our lives.
Creator God, Thank you for this beautiful gift of life. You are a mighty, awesome God. With you by our side, we can do anything. We thank you! In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: God rejoices over us every day.
Rejoice in all things! Pastor Liz
