Liz’s Morning Devotional based upon Upper Room
June 28, 2021
Read Matthew 28:16-20
16 Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshipped him, but some doubted. 18 Jesus came near and spoke to them, “I’ve received all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to obey everything that I’ve commanded you. Look, I myself will be with you every day until the end of this present age.”
Good Morning! Rejoice! Rejoice! Again I say rejoice!
Thank you all for a beautiful celebration of grace, love, and joy yesterday! Again, your openness to share and experience God’s love is a blessing. The Spirit of the Lord was within us and among us. The cool thing is that God’s love transcends time and space and through the Holy Spirit we are bound together as a community of faith forever. Whether or not we are standing side by side or in different rooms or different counties, we are one body, on faith.
As Jesus promised his disciples, he promises to be with us every day until the end of time. Whenever we feel lost or alone, we only need to call out and He will help us find our way. Hallelujah! Just as the disciples had times of doubt, so do we for we share together as imperfect human beings, but by God’s amazing grace we are forgiven and saved. Through God’s mercy, we are not reprimanded, but we are shown the way as a Father welcomes home a long-lost child. We are called to action by Jesus, our Lord, and Savior, to go out and make disciples of all nations. We are to use our God-given gifts to share the Word of the Lord through our thoughts, words, and actions. I challenge you to listen to God’s call in your life.
Creator God, Thank You for loving us. You made us and gave us free will! Sometimes we make great choices, and sometimes we make poor choices. Even when we turn our backs on you, you are there waiting patiently for us to turn around. Thank you for always being with us. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Thought for the day: The Lord is with me, today and every day.
Be still and listen to God today! Pastor Liz
