Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room
June 29, 2023
Psalm 121:1-8
1 I raise my eyes toward the mountains. Where will my help come from? 2 My help comes from the LORD, the maker of heaven and earth. 3 God won’t let your foot slip. Your protector won’t fall asleep on the job. 4 No! Israel’s protector never sleeps or rests! 5 The LORD is your protector; the LORD is your shade right beside you. 6 The sun won’t strike you during the day; neither will the moon at night. 7 The LORD will protect you from all evil; God will protect your very life. 8 The LORD will protect you on your journeys whether going or coming from now until forever from now.
Good Morning, Take comfort! God is with us always!
Do you remember when you or your child carried around a security blanket? God is our forever security blanket. Our “blanket” might be a cross that hangs around your neck, a beloved Bible from a loved one who has joined God, or something as simple as something in your pocket that reminds you of God’s presence.
This passage brings many people comfort in their moments of doubt or trouble: I look to the hills . . . We are blessed to live surrounded by the Blue Ridge mountains. We see God’s majesty each day as the sun and clouds dance across the sky, projecting shadows on the valleys, rock faces, and ridges.
3 God won’t let your foot slip. Your protector won’t fall asleep on the job. 4 No! Israel’s protector never sleeps or rests!
God is the original, authentic 24/7 provider. Surround yourself with reminders of God’s power and glory so that you might never forget or doubt God’s love and mercy. The price for this “service” was paid for us many years ago. Accept Jesus’ gift and be blessed.
Loving God, We thank you for Your blessings. We have moments of doubt, especially when we are troubled. Help us take comfort that you are with us always. We Thank You! In the name of Christ, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: God is with us now and forever.
God is Here:24/7! Pastor Liz
