Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room

July 2, 2023

Jeremiah 29:10-14

10 The LORD proclaims: When Babylon’s seventy years are up, I will come and fulfill my gracious promise to bring you back to this place. 11 I know the plans I have in mind for you, declares the LORD; they are plans for peace, not disaster, to give you a future filled with hope. 12 When you call me and come and pray to me, I will listen to you. 13 When you search for me, yes, search for me with all your heart, you will find me. 14 I will be present for you, declares the LORD, and I will end your captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have scattered you, and I will bring you home after your long exile, declares the LORD.

Good Morning, Our Lord has a plan for peace in our lives!

Jeremiah 10:11 is one of those passages I read when I am troubled or unsure of my path. Whenever I lose sight of the signs that God places to direct me, I turn to Scripture. In the Bible, I can find words of assurance that God will lead his children when we are lost because God has a plan for each of us and promises a future filled with hope.

Too many people in our world live lives devoid of hope. This is especially true of the homeless and the outcasts. Jesus came to teach us the way by serving all God’s children. It is good to sit in our comfortable homes and churches praying, reading Scripture, and worshiping God, but this is only a small part of what it means to be a Christian. We must step outside our walls and reach those in need. Jesus brought hope to the hopeless, mercy to the sinners, and love to all.

As Christians, we are called to take risks as we share the word with all who are ready to listen. To share Christ with the world means giving part of yourself to those with whom you share. Reach out and share the love of Christ with all you meet.

Loving God, We thank you for Your blessings. Help us bravely step outside our walls to share your love with all. We Thank You! In the name of Christ, we pray. Amen

Thought for the day: Seek God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength!
