Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room
July 2, 2025
Isaiah 65:17-19
17 Look! I’m creating a new heaven and a new earth: past events won’t be remembered; they won’t come to mind. 18 Be glad and rejoice forever in what I’m creating, because I’m creating Jerusalem as a joy and her people as a source of gladness. 19 I will rejoice in Jerusalem and be glad about my people.
Good Morning! The Lord blesses and keeps us!
God is compassionate and merciful to all who choose to follow. Despite Israel's persistent rebellion and idolatry, God still offers them opportunities to return to Him. Through the prophet Isaiah, God shares a vision of a new, joyful, and peaceful existence where past misdeeds are forgotten.
This is great news for all God’s children, past, present, and future, as we reflect on our own failed attempts to live the life God envisions for us. We are flawed and sinful, yet God has mercy and focuses on our attempts, weak though they may be, to follow Christ along our faith journey.
When our love fails and we turn away, God remains steadfast. Praise be to God. Up until our final breath, God offers us a place in paradise filled with love, peace, and joy. On that day, God fulfils our hope of a new creation.
Giving Lord, you bless us abundantly! In our failures, you see our attempts to do the right things. You give us infinite opportunities to try again. Thank you. We love you, Lord! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: Aspire to the promise of God’s new day in Christ.
Live today as a new day that is full of opportunity in Christ! Pastor Liz
