Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room
July 23, 2025
Romans 8:26-30
26 In the same way, the Spirit comes to help our weakness. We don’t know what we should pray, but the Spirit himself pleads our case with unexpressed groans. 27 The one who searches hearts knows how the Spirit thinks, because he pleads for the saints, consistent with God’s will. 28 We know that God works all things together for good for the ones who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose. 29 We know this because God knew them in advance, and he decided in advance that they would be conformed to the image of his Son. That way his Son would be the first of many brothers and sisters. 30 Those who God decided in advance would be conformed to his Son, he also called. Those whom he called, he also made righteous. Those whom he made righteous, he also glorified.
Good Morning! Embrace today’s opportunities!
Communication is the key to every relationship. Without communication, little things can quickly become big things. It is easy to misinterpret intentions. When we don’t let the other partner in our relationship, whether at work or in our personal life, know how or what we’re feeling, the relationship suffers, and if left unattended for too long, it disintegrates.
Prayer is our first line of communication with God. Jesus came and died for us, so that we might have a personal relationship with God. We can characterize this relationship as living in the light. Those without it are living in darkness.
Unlike our earthly, human relationships, which can be difficult to rekindle when they fall apart, God is always waiting for us to come back into an active relationship. No matter what we’ve done or left undone, God awaits us with open arms. God does not harbor ill will for our past transgressions.
God calls us out to live a life in the light, through which we are blessed and glorified. Even if it’s been a long while, God is waiting to hear from you today!
Giving Lord, you bless us abundantly! Sometimes we are reluctant to share with you! Help us remember that you are always ready to listen. Thank you. We love you, Lord! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: Just talk! Share what’s on your mind! God is listening!
Talk! Listen! Think! Repeat! Pastor Liz
