Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room
August 8, 2022
Read John 14:1-7
1 “Don’t be troubled. Trust in God. Trust also in me. 2 My Father’s house has room to spare. If that weren’t the case, would I have told you that I’m going to prepare a place for you? 3 When I go to prepare a place for you, I will return and take you to be with me so that where I am you will be too. 4 You know the way to the place I’m going.” 5 Thomas asked, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going. How can we know the way?” 6 Jesus answered, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you have really known me, you will also know the Father. From now on you know him and have seen him.”
Good morning! Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life!
This week I am moving my dad to Renaissance Assisted Living in Standardsville, VA. For the first time in almost ten years, he will be close to where I live. As chaotic as the move itself will be (moving is a thing I know a bit about), I believe that dad, me, and all of his extended family will be blessed by this move. Jesus tells us to trust in him and to trust in God. Thank you God for providing us with this opportunity to spend more time together.
In this past week, two sweet ladies that I was blessed to have in my life, made their final journey to be with God. I thank God that both were a part of my life. When I last talked to each, they were standing strong and thanking their doctors for helping them. How blessed we are to know that our loved ones go ahead of us and live with no more pain.
Jesus reminds us to trust him to lead us along our way. He continues ahead of us lighting the way so that we do not get lost. God provides a map for all who call Christ their Lord and Savior. Our map is nestled within the Scriptures. As we read and spend time talking to God, our path is revealed to us step by step.
Oh God, You are my God
And I will ever praise you
Oh God, You are my God
And I will ever praise you
I will seek You in the morning
And I will learn to walk in Your ways
And step by step You'll lead me
And I will follow You all of my days
Today, I am not troubled, but I am rejoicing because we serve an awesome God who cares for us and prepares a place for our eternal life. Hallelujah! Amen!
Loving and Caring God, Thank You for loving us. Thank you for placing Toni and Velma on my pathway. They helped me along my path. Thank You. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: When I look to Jesus, I have a road map for life.
Follow Jesus! Pastor Liz
I’m sorry for your loss, Liz, but rejoice that heaven has 2 new saints.
