Liz’s Morning Devotional based upon Upper Room
August 23, 2021
Read Psalm 46:1-11
1 God is our refuge and strength, a help always near in times of great trouble. 2 That’s why we won’t be afraid when the world falls apart, when the mountains crumble into the center of the sea, 3 when its waters roar and rage, when the mountains shake because of its surging waves. Selah 4 There is a river whose streams gladden God’s city, the holiest dwelling of the Most High. 5 God is in that city. It will never crumble. God will help it when morning dawns. 6 Nations roar; kingdoms crumble. God utters his voice; the earth melts. 7 The LORD of heavenly forces is with us! The God of Jacob is our place of safety. Selah 8 Come, see the LORD’s deeds, what devastation he has imposed on the earth 9 bringing wars to an end in every corner of the world, breaking the bow and shattering the spear, burning chariots with fire. 10 “That’s enough! Now know that I am God! I am exalted among all nations; I am exalted throughout the world!” 11 The LORD of heavenly forces is with us! The God of Jacob is our place of safety. Selah
Good Morning! Rejoice, Rejoice, Again I say Rejoice!
The blue moon is beautiful this morning. As I gaze upon it’s beauty, I am reminded of Jesus and how he is our beacon of light in the darkness. Jesus is there to light our way when we are unsure of where the path is leading us.
Psalm 46 is a testament to God’s power. God is always with us and those who call him father will be protected from any calamities that may befall the earth. We must trust in the Lord in all things. It is amazing that words written so long ago are so powerful today. Many feel that the past couple of years have been times of great trouble, and our world seems to be crumbling around us.
God, our Creator, our parent, is with us always. Just as our earthly parents, God allows us to test our wings and try to manage ourselves, but when we fall God is there to pick us up and dust us off. God is our refuge and strength. As children of God, we will be protected when we call upon his holy name. Just as the moon lights our way this morning, God’s light is there for all who seek the way and the truth.
Loving God, Thank You for loving us. Our world is in such a mess and we don’t know how to fix it. Show us the way to be the light and center of calmness so that others may believe. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: God is forever my watchful parent.
God is watching! Pastor Liz
