Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room
September 3, 2025
Romans 15:1-6
1 We who are powerful need to be patient with the weakness of those who don’t have power, and not please ourselves. 2 Each of us should please our neighbors for their good in order to build them up. 3 Christ didn’t please himself, but, as it is written, The insults of those who insulted you fell on me. 4 Whatever was written in the past was written for our instruction so that we could have hope through endurance and through the encouragement of the scriptures. 5 May the God of endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude toward each other, similar to Christ Jesus’ attitude. 6 That way you can glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ together with one voice.
Good Morning! Let us glorify God together with one voice!
In the manufacturing world, many pure materials are made stronger by combining elements to make an alloy. Steel is an alloy that combines iron ore with other elements to improve its hardness, strength, and corrosion resistance. Iron ore is made better with the inclusion of these elements.
As a community of faith, the more diverse people with their own unique gifts and skills who come together, the stronger our bond becomes. The Holy Spirit melds all that we have together to make one body that can endure the hardships and challenges that we encounter. On our own, we will likely break or fall, but as one body, we are strong.
When new people come into our body, we work together, nurturing their strengths and supporting their weaknesses, so that they grow in confidence as their foundation in Christ is established.
When God’s people join in unity and sing with one voice, the power of love that is generated is unstoppable.
Loving Lord, you bless us abundantly! Jesus taught us to gather all of your children and join together as one. Lead us along our path of discovery. Thank you. We love you, Lord! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: Our ministry grows stronger when we are united in purpose.
Our diversity strengthens our resolve! Pastor Liz
