Liz’s Morning Devotional based upon Upper Room
September 10, 2021
Read Romans 5:6-8
6 While we were still weak, at the right moment, Christ died for ungodly people. 7 It isn’t often that someone will die for a righteous person, though maybe someone might dare to die for a good person. 8 But God shows his love for us, because while we were still sinners Christ died for us.
Good Morning! For God so loved the world . . .
As I reflect this morning, my body shutters at the thought of God’s amazing love for us. There is no act of love comparable to sending your child to die on behalf of others. Not only for others, but for broken sinners.
As we approach the anniversary of 9/11, we remember the acts of self-sacrifice by our nation's first responders as they worked tirelessly on behalf of others. Many are called, but few can answer such a demanding calling. Thank you to all who serve on our behalf. On that day, there was no time to decide who should be saved, the effort was to save all.
We are weak and we are sinners, but God still loves us and calls us to come to the community of faith. . . . for whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. Are you ready to accept and believe? May we learn to become doers of the word in response to our gift.
Loving God, Thank You for loving us. You are an awesome God. We are so undeserving of your love and mercy, but you don’t give up on us. May we allow the Holy Spirit to transform us into the beautiful beings that you see in our hearts. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: How do I reciprocate God’s love for me?
Smile! God loves us! Pastor Liz
