Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room

September 10, 2025

Galatians 3:23-29

23 Before faith came, we were guarded under the Law, locked up until faith that was coming would be revealed, 24 so that the Law became our custodian until Christ, so that we might be made righteous by faith. 25 But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a custodian. 26 You are all God’s children through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 All of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek; there is neither slave nor free; nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 Now if you belong to Christ, then indeed you are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to the promise.

Good Morning! We are all God’s Children!

What does it mean to clothe ourselves with Christ? There are several ways to address this. To me, it means that we wear the essence of Christ, which begins and ends with Love. Love is the foundation upon which everything else is possible.

Once we establish and envelop the love, then we add joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These qualities are seen as the result of allowing God's Holy Spirit to work in a person's life, influencing their character and behavior.

The fruits of the spirit are not just attributes we are supposed to exhibit when someone is watching, but these are the building blocks to wearing the essence of Christ. Christ wasn’t kind to others because God said to be kind. Christ was kind because God loves him, and kindness is a response to God’s love to be shared with everyone he met.

That is how we become the face of Christ for the world. We start with love, and from the love, the fruits of the spirit manifest themselves through our thoughts, words, and deeds. This transformation is not possible without God’s love. Thanks be to our loving God who loves us unconditionally.

Loving Lord, you bless us abundantly! Thank you for loving us and giving us Jesus to teach us how to live as you desire us to live. Thank you. We love you, Lord! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen

Thought for the day: Each day is brimming with blessings.

Envelop God’s love and share with all! Pastor Liz
