Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room
September 23, 2023
Colossians 3:15-17
15 The peace of Christ must control your hearts—a peace into which you were called in one body. And be thankful people. 16 The word of Christ must live in you richly. Teach and warn each other with all wisdom by singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Sing to God with gratitude in your hearts. 17 Whatever you do, whether in speech or action, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus and give thanks to God the Father through him.
Good Morning. Give thanks with a grateful heart!
When we adopt an attitude of thankfulness, we find the peace of Christ. It is easy to be thankful when we receive an unexpected windfall, but we must be careful not to focus on earthly blessings.
19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:19-21
How do you feel when you receive a package in the mail? I get excited every time. Even when it is something that I ordered. (especially when I “forgot” that I ordered it LOL)The great blessing of heavenly treasures is that we receive them every day. Each flower bud that opens is a gift from God. Each glimpse of a rainbow in a droplet of rain is a special reminder that God cares for us. Open your eyes and receive each gift as the best gift ever.
God loves us and cares for us. Say that with a smile and a heart of gratitude.
Loving God, We love you! We thank You for each gift and blessing that You provide. Thank you! In the name of Christ, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: Gratitude renews my spirit.
Smile! God loves You! Pastor Liz
