Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room

  October 10, 2024

John 14:23-27

23 Jesus answered, “Whoever loves me will keep my word. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. 24 Whoever doesn’t love me doesn’t keep my words. The word that you hear isn’t mine. It is the word of the Father who sent me. 25 “I have spoken these things to you while I am with you. 26 The Companion, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I told you. 27 “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give you. I give to you not as the world gives. Don’t be troubled or afraid.

Good Morning! Thank you, God, for a beautiful morning!

Last night, I stood on a dark hill with two friends and marveled at God’s light show. As we looked into the night sky, we saw the Northern Lights, countless stars, and the edge of the Milky Way. Oh my, it was truly glorious.

Psalms 147:4-5 (ESV)

He determines the number of the stars; he gives to all of them their names. Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure.

We we surrounded and enveloped in a divine space filled with God’s glory. How can anyone doubt when confronted with unimaginable evidence? God, the everpresent source of power and grandeur, is also the God of peace, love, mercy, hope, and joy.

Blessed are those who look around them and see paradise, for they are filled with the peace that passes all understanding.

Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place,

I can feel His mighty power and His grace.

I can hear the brush of angel's wings

I see glory on each face;

Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place.

Dear Lord, We are your children! Thank you for sharing your glory with us. Help us never lose sight of the beauty that surrounds us. Thank you! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen

Thought for the day: Jesus is the source of our peace!

Peace is available to all! Pastor Liz
