Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room

November 2, 2023

Romans 12:1-2

1 So, brothers and sisters, because of God’s mercies, I encourage you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice that is holy and pleasing to God. This is your appropriate priestly service. 2 Don’t be conformed to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds so that you can figure out what God’s will is—what is good and pleasing and mature.

Good Morning. Rejoice, again I say rejoice.

Forty-five years ago, I became a mother, and my life changed forever. From that moment, I began to learn about unconditional love as I gazed upon our baby. As I sit and watch this beautiful sky this morning, I reflect upon my life as a parent.

During our early lives, we are given the opportunity to experience life. Each day presents new ways to learn and grow in our priestly service. Just as each sunrise is unique, our lives are ever-evolving as we determine God’s will. At twenty-one years old, I only saw a glimpse of my future because I needed much time to mature in Christ.

Throughout our lives, we continue our maturation. What a life! What a joy to live in Christ!

As we approach the perfection found when we join Christ, we are given the ability to see glory in each face. For this morning, I thank God for allowing me to see the world through the eyes of a mother.

Creator God, We love you! You bless us in so many ways. Thank you for loving us in our imperfections. Thank you. In the name of Christ, we pray. Amen

Thought for the day: Embrace the opportunities that are placed before you.

Bless the Lord, O My Soul! Pastor Liz
