Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room
November 8, 2025
Psalm 100:1-5
1 Shout triumphantly to the LORD, all the earth! 2 Serve the LORD with celebration! Come before him with shouts of joy! 3 Know that the LORD is God he made us; we belong to him. We are his people, the sheep of his own pasture. 4 Enter his gates with thanks; enter his courtyards with praise! Thank him! Bless his name! 5 Because the LORD is good, his loyal love lasts forever; his faithfulness lasts generation after generation.
Good Morning! It is a beautiful day to praise God!
Be purposefully grateful! As I sit and watch the birds bounce around on the branches of the maple tree across the street, I am reminded of God’s glory that surrounds me. I am blessed to live in a neighborhood with beautiful trees, a plethora of birds, and neighbors who genuinely care for one another.
Wherever we live, or whatever our situations, there are times when we forget to thank God for all that we have. We often take our blessings for granted and forget to say the words Thank You, God. Then I imagine those living without God; I can’t imagine living without God’s presence to support and lead me on my way.
As we approach our Thanksgiving celebrations, let us take a moment to thank God, our family members who see us at our best and our worst, our neighbors who notice when we haven’t been seen in a while, and our church family with whom we share worship.
That part of the thankful list is relatively easy. Now comes the more challenging part: thank God for our struggles, our challenges, those who block our efforts, and even our enemies. In all things, God blesses and keeps us.
Loving Lord, you bless us abundantly! Thank you for choosing us. We become complacent and expect you to provide for our needs. Thank you for blessing us beyond what we could ever deserve. Thank you. We love you, Lord! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: Today, and every day, thank God for your blessings.
Be purposefully Grateful! Pastor Liz
