Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room

Read Lamentations 3:21-24

21 I call all this to mind—therefore, I will wait. 22 Certainly the faithful love of the LORD hasn’t ended; certainly God’s compassion isn’t through! 23 They are renewed every morning. Great is your faithfulness. 24 I think: The LORD is my portion! Therefore, I’ll wait for him.

Good Morning, Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, and in everything give thanks!

At the dawning of each new day, we are given the opportunity to praise God for our blessings. Do you remember the Bill Murray movie, Groundhog’s Day? When Bill wakes up each morning, he relives the same day over and over again: The ultimate do-over! We laugh as the character goes through all ranges of human behavior, but finally he becomes a kinder, gentler soul and the repetition ends. 

A few days ago, I shared the idea that we are on the practice squad as we learn how to love one another. We make mistakes, but through God’s grace we are given the opportunity to make it right. We are renewed every morning. 

Our goal is to learn and grow in our faith as we journey along our way. With each day, we are one step closer to our final destination. God’s love and compassion never wane. God is waiting and watching as we practice loving one another. Those who turn over their lives to God will remain steadfast in their faith. 

Repent, ask forgiveness, love, repeat! We are washed in the blood, cleansed, by grace, and redeemed by faith in Christ! Hallelujah!

Gracious God, Thank You for loving us. Despite our failure, You are forgiving and loving. Thank You. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
