Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room
November 19, 2025
Psalm 40:1-5
1 I put all my hope in the LORD. He leaned down to me; he listened to my cry for help. 2 He lifted me out of the pit of death, out of the mud and filth, and set my feet on solid rock. He steadied my legs. 3 He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise for our God. Many people will learn of this and be amazed; they will trust the LORD. 4 Those who put their trust in the LORD, who pay no attention to the proud or to those who follow lies, are truly happy! 5 You, LORD my God! You’ve done so many things, your wonderful deeds and your plans for us, no one can compare with you! If I were to proclaim and talk about all of them, they would be too numerous to count!
Good Morning! O God, You are my God and I will ever praise You!
When we are at our lowest point, God is with us to lift us up and place us on solid ground. It is easy to proclaim these words when all is well, but what about when it feels as if the ground is shifting below us and we are going down?
During the last few months of my husband’s illness, I felt as if I were sinking into the pit of despair. I was physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually exhausted. Little things would send me spiraling into moments of fear and sorrow. Each time I called to God, he would pull me back into a space where I could function.
One day, when we were at a breaking point, God sent an angel to guide and support us. David came and saved me. He was strong and breathed new life into our home as we unknowingly prepared for Lowell’s transition to a new life with Christ.
Through David, God supported me through this time of great sorrow. I was able to step back from some of my caregiver duties and spend the final month cherishing our time together.
Oh God, You are my God
And I will ever praise You
And Step by step You'll lead me
And I will follow You all of my days
Lord, you bless us abundantly! When our lives are falling apart, You are with us to guide and love us through the storm. Thank you. We love you, Lord! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: God hears our cries and provides a way forward in the darkness.
God is Always With Us! Pastor Liz
