Morning Devotional 112023 God Has a Plan

Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room

November 20, 2023

Psalm 20:1-9

1 I pray that the LORD answers you whenever you are in trouble. Let the name of Jacob’s God protect you. 2 Let God send help to you from the sanctuary and support you from Zion. 3 Let God recall your many grain offerings; let him savor your entirely burned offerings. Selah 4 Let God grant what is in your heart and fulfill all your plans. 5 Then we will rejoice that you’ve been helped. We will fly our flags in the name of our God. Let the LORD fulfill all your requests! 6 Now I know that the LORD saves his anointed one; God answers his anointed one from his heavenly sanctuary, answering with mighty acts of salvation achieved by his strong hand. 7 Some people trust in chariots, others in horses; but we praise the LORD’s name. 8 They will collapse and fall, but we will stand up straight and strong. 9 LORD, save the king! Let him answer us when we cry out!

Good Morning. Give thanks to God, our Creator!

Some believe that David is offering a prayer of comfort to his people on the eve of a battle. It resembles a pep talk to prepare your group to enter a time of difficulty.

In this week of Thanksgiving, let us take time to remember all that God does to support us. We should be thankful for all things, seen and unseen. How can we be thankful for things unseen? We thank God for those opportunities that have yet to present themselves to us. God’s gifts and plans for us are beyond our grandest imagination, so we thank God for every blessing yet to be seen.

Think back to your younger self and then to now. How did I come to be here today? God’s plans for each of us existed in the beginning before we were fully formed. Praise God for answers, wisdom, and mighty acts of salvation. Trust in the Lord in all things.

Creator God, Thank you for loving us. We cannot see what our future holds, but we believe that you will protect us and lift us up for your purpose. Thank you. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Thought for the day: Trust in the Lord, our God.

Believe and be saved! Pastor Liz
