Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room

November 24, 2025

Isaiah 40:28-31

28 Don’t you know? Haven’t you heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the creator of the ends of the earth. He doesn’t grow tired or weary. His understanding is beyond human reach, 29 giving power to the tired and reviving the exhausted. 30 Youths will become tired and weary, young men will certainly stumble; 31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength; they will fly up on wings like eagles; they will run and not be tired; they will walk and not be weary.

Good Morning! Place your hope in the Lord, who will renew our strength!

The Lord God, Creator of all things, sees and hears all things. When we are too tired or weary, God is with us, holding us up when we feel as if we will surely stumble and fall. I’m reminded of the poem, “Footprints in the Sand.” Here are excerpts from that poem.

One night, I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Scenes from my life flashed across the sky.

In each, I noticed footprints in the sand.

Sometimes there were two sets of footprints;

other times, there was only one.

During the low periods of my life,

I could see only one set of footprints, so I said,

"You promised me, Lord, that you would walk with me always.

Why, when I have needed you most, have you not been there for me?"

The LORD replied:

"My son, my precious child,

I love you and I would never leave you.

During your times of trial and suffering,

when you see only one set of footprints,

it was then that I carried you."

The Lord sees and responds to our needs before we even realize that we can’t continue on our own. Through faith, we are invited to release our worries and fears to God. Through this release, you will find the peace you seek.

Lord, you bless us abundantly! We are your proud children. Help us humble ourselves so that we can ask for help when needed. Thank you. We love you, Lord! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen

Thought for the day: Put your trust and faith in God, who carries us through hard times.
