Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room
November 25, 2022
Read Philippians 4:10-13
10 I was very glad in the Lord because now at last you have shown concern for me again. (Of course, you were always concerned but had no way to show it.) 11 I’m not saying this because I need anything, for I have learned how to be content in any circumstance. 12 I know the experience of being in need and of having more than enough; I have learned the secret to being content in any and every circumstance, whether full or hungry or whether having plenty or being poor. 13 I can endure all these things through the power of the one who gives me strength.
Good Morning, Give thanks to God for everything!
As we begin our Advent preparations, may we keep our thoughts and prayers rooted in Christ. We are living in challenging times. We hear and see such sadness all around us. When we try to make sense of things, it is easy to be consumed with the darkness and to think that there is no way out of the chaos.
Our passage today reminds us that God is with us even when we don’t see the evidence before us. My clock in my bathroom has this quote from Elton Trueblood. Faith is not belief without proof, but trust without reservation. When we trust God in all things, we are blessed with the power of God so that we may endure all of our present struggles.
Each new day is an opportunity to make a difference in the world: to care for others, to care for the environment, and to self-care. Take time to celebrate another day to breathe, think, enjoy, and love as Jesus taught us. Trust in the strength with which we, God’s children are blessed. Rely on your faith to see you through when you can’t see the possibilities of tomorrow. Open your heart and soul to the fullness of God’s mercy and grace.
Gracious God, Thank You for loving us. We love You. May we be thankful for each new day. Thank you! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: In good times and bad, I will praise the Lord.
Trust in God! Pastor Liz
