Read Haggai 1:2-5, 12-13
2 This is what the LORD of heavenly forces says: These people say, “The time hasn’t come, the time to rebuild the LORD’s house.” 3 Then the LORD’s word came through Haggai the prophet: 4 Is it time for you to dwell in your own paneled houses while this house lies in ruins? 5 So now, this is what the LORD of heavenly forces says: Take your ways to heart. 12 Zerubbabel, Shealtiel’s son, and the high priest Joshua, Jehozadak’s son, along with all who remained among the people, listened to the voice of the LORD God and to the words of Haggai the prophet because the LORD their God sent him. Then the people feared the LORD. 13 Then Haggai, the LORD’s messenger, gave the LORD’s message to the people: I am with you, says the LORD.
Good Morning! May you feel God’s love surrounding you today!
When I was outside this morning, it was very quiet. When I passed by the spaces between the buildings, the wind was evident but other than a few rustling leaves that continue to hang on to the trees, there was silence. As we prepare for the storm and await its arrival, we should take time to appreciate the calmness. Of course, we do not know what weather we will have in the next few hours: snow, ice, or rain. We do know that we have many blessings in place and that we will not be alone. Take time to thank God for your blessings this morning.
Haggai, one of the lesser-known prophets, was called to share God’s word with his people. The message of this passage is to get your “house” in order. Don’t wait for when you have time, but do it now! We know not the minute nor the hour when our time on earth is over. If we plan to accept Christ when we are less busy, that day may never come. Accepting Christ as Lord and Savior is a priority. Do it Now! The Lord is with us and wants to be in a relationship with us.
With Christ in our lives, we can find the calmness that we seek in our busy, hectic lives. All we must do is accept Christ and allow the Holy Spirit to begin our transformation. Some would say that I’m the queen of being busy. I do love all the many “jobs” that I have, but the only way that I can manage my life is to turn my worries to God and to set aside time to commune daily with my Lord and Savior. Thanks be to God who loves me and is merciful.
Accepting God, Thank You for loving us. Sometimes we are so busy that we forget to take time to share with You. May we allow ourselves the grace to set aside special time. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: Today I will look for God’s promptings in my conversations with others.
Find time to spend with God! Pastor Liz
