Morning Devotional 121322 Living with God

Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room

December 13, 2022

Read Psalm 103: 13-18

13 Like a parent feels compassion for their children that’s how the LORD feels compassion for those who honor him. 14 Because God knows how we’re made, God remembers we’re just dust. 15 The days of a human life are like grass: they bloom like a wildflower; 16 but when the wind blows through it, it’s gone; even the ground where it stood doesn’t remember it. 17 But the LORD’s faithful love is from forever ago to forever from now for those who honor him. And God’s righteousness reaches to the grandchildren 18 of those who keep his covenant and remember to keep his commands.

Good Morning, God promises to be with us forever!

What is your story? The generations of children who follow us are our legacy. We spend only a short time in our earthly existence, but those lessons that we learn and share last forever as each generation continues the story. Our story is who we are from the beginning of time and all the way to the end of time.

God knows our story before we begin, but for us, we are set on a path full of possibilities. We are given the gift to experience the smallest details along the way. Our journey includes time to discover, learn, struggle, and be blessed. Each day begins anew with God and each step we take is a movement toward our final destination of being with God.

Proverbs 22: 6 tells us to 6Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. Just as those who come before us, train us in the ways of righteousness, we must train our own children so that they can find their way as they take each step of faith.

Each story is unique and a blessing to the one who lives it, but it is also a blessing to those with whom the stories bisect each other along the way. Live your story to the fullest and you will be blessed. Start and end your day with God. Build the relationship through which God is your companion. God wants to share our lives and promises to be with those who believe in good times and bad.

God is ready to share our laughter and our tears as we live our stories. During our most challenging times, God will be with us to hold us and comfort us. Thanks be to God!

Gracious God, Thank You for loving us. Sometimes we start to believe that we can handle things on our own. Thank you for waiting patiently for us to call out to you. Thank you! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen

Thought for the day: When my heart is heavy, spending time with God can lighten the burden.

Share Your Story! Pastor Liz
