Liz’s Morning Devotional based upon Upper Room
December 28, 2021
Read Matthew 11:28-30
28 “Come to me, all you who are struggling hard and carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest. 29 Put on my yoke, and learn from me. I’m gentle and humble. And you will find rest for yourselves. 30 My yoke is easy to bear, and my burden is light.”
Good Morning! Come to Jesus and he will give you rest.
I seem to have a thing for balancing many plates in the air at the same time. For some, it may seem that I don’t have a moment to spare or that my life is chaotic as I work to keep all my plates spinning. For me, I certainly have much to do, but I also have time for myself. I know it may sound crazy, but when I have full days I do my best to set aside time for personal wellness.
Somehow the energy that I expend is a catalyst for the energy that I produce. i.e. energy begets energy. This is not to say that I never become overwhelmed by my choices. Occasionally, I “slip” and one of my plates begins to wobble. Even when I have this brief moment of panic, I know that God is with me and will help me secure my footing when I’m in need.
If I have learned nothing else in my life, I have learned to listen to my heart, soul, and mind. When it is time for a break, I am learning to give myself the grace to take a break. During my morning meditation, and other times as needed during the day, I work to turn my worries over to God and look for the love and joy that surrounds me. As I devote myself to serving God, my yoke is easy and my burdens are light. I pray that you may work on granting yourself grace to enjoy your life regardless of the circumstances.
Creator God, Thank You for loving us. Thank you for your strength! Help us never forget that you are with us and will carry us during our times of need. Thank You. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: God has a special purpose for every season in our lives.
Marvelous Grace awaits us! Pastor Liz
